The profile of our production imposes on us serious obligations concerning environmental protection. In the Ecological Policy of the Company we formulated the fundamental tasks, taking into account the accumulated backlog of negligence.

We are implementing an environmental management system in accordance with the ISO 14001 standard and the health and a safety management system meeting the requirements of the PN-N-18001 standard. Both these systems are seen as an integral part of management in our company.

Our attempts to improve environmental protection are apparent in investments and modernizations. Thanks to them a smaller amount of waste is stored in the stockyard. We utilize them effectively. We apply technologies that eliminate potential threats or minimize the side-effects of production. Removal of dangerous substances, lowering atmospheric pollution, limiting water consumption and lowering the amount of liquid waste materials and the extent of their pollution – all these efforts are only a part of our endeavors. We publish the information regarding their results in an annual Ecological Report and a quarterly entitled ZEF addressed to the inhabitants of Bydgoszcz. In this way, not only do we inform about the state of the environment but also foster the attitude of responsibility for its safety and condition.

Together with the local authorities we built a biological wastewater treatment plant where all the sewage from ZACHEM S.A. was directed on March 14th, 2001. We were the first in Poland to join the International Program Responsible Care in 1994. Moreover, for many years we have been carrying out the Program of Clean Production.
